Bursaries
With an aim of promoting and extending the ideals of education at UKIO to support federated best practice in imaging and oncology across the world, the Trustees of ROC are pleased to offer an international bursary scheme to those working in the fields of diagnostic imaging and oncology from resource poor countries. A number of bursaries are offered for professionals in these fields residing and working in countries designated as:
• Least developed countries (LDC).
• Low-income countries which are not LDCs.
• Lower middle-income countries & territories which are not LDCs.
Click here to find the lists.
The bursaries are up to a maximum value of 2500GBP to cover economy travel, subsistence for up to 5 days, and accommodation which will be provided in Liverpool for a maximum of 5 nights, plus a full place at the congress. Successful applicants attending the congress will be expected to:
• Work in the field of diagnostic imaging or oncology as a relevant health professional, in one of the eligible countries listed above.
• Upon their return to their country commit to acting as a “super-user” and share learnings from the congress to their localities, and provide evidence of having done so.
• Write a report on their experience of the congress to be used by the congress organisers for future promotion.
The applications will be reviewed by a panel which will include a minimum of 3 representatives from ROC and the UKIO Working Party, who will make an individual evaluation of the applications, followed by discussion and final agreements made together on a video call. Applications will be assessed on:
• Answers to questions on the application form and supporting details supplied where relevant.
• Applicant resides and works in one of the eligible countries listed above.
• Statement on how learnings will be disseminated to the applicant’s locality after the congress.
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept applications from those who have previously been awarded a bursary by ROC to attend UKIO.
Applications should be made by 23:59 UK time on Wednesday 19 February and applicants will be informed of decisions in mid March. Click here to make an application.
