Funding for international delegates
Funding available for healthcare professionals from lower income countries
With an aim of promoting and extending the ideals of education at UKIO to support federated best practice in imaging and oncology across the world, the Trustees of ROC are pleased to offer an international bursary scheme to those working in the fields of diagnostic imaging and oncology from resource poor countries. A number of bursaries are offered for professionals in these fields residing and working in countries designated as least developed countries (LDC), low-income countries which are not LDCs, and lower middle-income countries & territories which are not LDCs (click here to view the list of countries falling within these groups). The bursaries are up to a maximum value of 2500GBP to cover economy travel, subsistence for up to 5 days, and accommodation which will be provided in Liverpool for a maximum of 5 nights, plus a full place at the congress.
Successful applicants attending the congress with a bursary will be expected to:
• Work in the field of diagnostic imaging or oncology as a relevant health professional, in a country designated as an LDC, a low-income country which is not an LDC, or a lower middle-income country & territory which is not an LDC (click here to view the list of countries falling within these groups).
• Upon their return to their country commit to act as a “super-user” and share learnings from the congress within their localities, and provide evidence of having done so (e.g. in the form of a written report).
• Write a report on their experience of the congress to be used by the congress organisers for future promotion.
The applications will be reviewed by a panel, which will include a minimum of three representatives from ROC and the UKIO Working Party. The panel will individually evaluate applications, consider in a joint panel discussion, and make final agreements. Applications will be assessed on:
• Answers to questions on the application form and supporting details supplied where relevant.
• Applicant resides and works in a country designated as an LDC, or a low-income country which is not an LDC, or a lower middle-income country or territory which is not an LDC (click here to view the list of countries falling within these groups).
• Statement on how learnings will be disseminated within the applicant’s locality after the congress.
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept applications from those who have previously been awarded a bursary by ROC to attend UKIO.
The deadline to submit an application is 23:59 UK time on Wednesday 19 February 2025. Applicants will be informed of decisions in mid March. Click here to make an application.
