Dr Andreas Wetscherek
Dr Andreas Wetscherek obtained his PhD in 2013, having worked on diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg. He continued at DKFZ as a postdoc developing 4D-MRI techniques to quantify lung motion in fibrotic diseases. In 2015 Dr Wetscherek joined the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) to work on MRI in radiotherapy with particular focus on the UK’s first MR-Linac system. Since December 2018 he is leading the MRI in Radiotherapy Team at ICR characterising physiological motion for treatment adaptation and developing functional imaging techniques to assess and predict treatment response.
