UKIO 2021 – An update from UKIO President, Dr Nick Spencer
As Christmas fast approaches, to be like no other, the UKIO working party and all associated with our congress want to thank you for your support and participation in 2020.
In June and July we held a successful virtual congress in the midst of this devastating Coronavirus pandemic. With record delegates attending from nearly 50 different countries worldwide participating, we hope you enjoyed the show! We made our lectures available on-demand and have been planning for 2021 in earnest. This has included reviewing feedback from this year’s event, and surveying our exhibitors to ensure we improve the congress going forwards.
The Board who oversee UKIO are also pleased to announce that Dr Rizwan Malik, has been appointed President Elect, and will take over leading UKIO at the end of the 2021 meeting. We have new Vice Presidents and working party members, and expect the congress to grow in the coming years.
Our preparations for a safe congress in Liverpool between 7 to 9 June are well advanced, and as COVID-19 vaccination programmes gather pace into the new year we remain hopeful that this will be possible. Interactive content will be available for those who cannot attend, and an enhanced virtual event will be ready if we cannot all be together in Liverpool.
Thank you again to all our delegates, exhibitors and faculty, who all strive to make UKIO the premier multi-professional congress for the imaging and clinical oncology community. Have a peaceful festive season, and let’s hope for a better year in 2021.
Season’s Greetings from
Dr Nick Spencer, Congress President on behalf of the UKIO Organising Committee
