UKIO returns to Liverpool in June 2023 with a new look

We are proud to officially launch UKIO 2023 – Synergy and symbiosis: Breaking down barriers in healthcare, which will take place on 5-7 June at the ACC Liverpool.

And with the 2023 congress comes huge changes! After two years of a fully online event and a return to an in-person congress in 2022, we’ve spent the last few months reviewing what you – our delegates – have told us; how external pressures are affecting the NHS and its workforce; and what UKIO should look like in the times we now find ourselves. We’re now excited to tell you about UKIO 2023 – a new and improved Congress that will reflect the world we live in today by delivering a stream-lined and delegate-focused programme and increased accessibility and ‘recession-busting’ pricing. UKIO will  continue to be the place to go for cutting-edge, practice-based content for a multidisciplinary audience, to join up with like-minded professionals, up to three days of CPD, and a large professional exhibition of the latest state-of-the-art equipment, services and technology – but going forward will feature:

  • A programme focused on ‘Specialist for the generalist’ and ‘Top tips’ content, rather than highly specialised topics.
  • More sessions on service optimisation, education, and workforce.
  • Research placed at the heart of the programme – more proffered papers sessions to present your work, expert sessions on refining research proposals and power pitches, and a dedicated research hub.
  • Themed hubs in the exhibition on service delivery, clinical case studies, and innovation in action.
  • More hands-on and technical workshops.
  • Added value content from education on the stands run by our industry partners, and CPD outside of the programme in ‘case of the day’ activities and viewing posters.
  • Streams aimed specifically at masterclasses for trainees, making UKIO the place to come for value-for-money exam prep.
  • Sessions throughout the programme aimed at students.

And we’ll deliver this in an accessible way with a completely reviewed pricing model. We recognise that times are hard for the NHS and the country as a whole, study budgets have been reduced, and many delegates might be self-funding CPD. To respond to this, we will be implementing new fees and tickets:

  • Significantly reduced congress fees – early booking fees (until 31 March) will be £75 for students, trainees and retirees; £150 for radiographers, healthcare scientists and others; and £200 for consultants. These fees will give access to the entire three days of the conference and all its content.
  • A free ticket on Wednesday for those who just want to view the exhibition stands, which will also give access to all sessions that day without restriction.

You won’t see any change to the quality of the congress – we’re simply restructuring the same high-quality content and education at a time when budgets are squeezed. The only change you will spot is that your fee will no longer include lunch, but there will be lots of places to purchase lunch in a food court in the exhibition!

We hope you welcome these changes and we hope we’ll see more of you than ever in Liverpool in June.
